Clashes continue in Bangkok

BANGKOK, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Thai cabinet on Sunday approved imposition of emergency law in five provinces in northeast area, which will put 22 provinces under the law. Earlier, the protesters' leader called for talks with the government under the United Nations mediation. Government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn a crackdown on "red- shirts" will continue despite their plea for UN-mediated talks.
